About Me

Being a Gaijin…

Gaijin… a Japanese term referring to foreigners.

No matter how unintentional Japanese people are when they use the term, it can sound racist. I am sure many foreigners in Japan have experienced uncomfortable feeling when they have been labeled as a Gaijin…

About

My name is J. Many people call me J-san… except in China, where people just prefer to read all Kanji in Chinese… Anyways, I left Japan when I just turned 14 and my life as a Gaijin started.

Over a few decades, I have lived as a Gaijin in 4 different countries. I have met great people, experienced exciting (or embarrassing…) things, and I am expecting much more to come in the future. I thought some people might enjoy hearing my stories so, here we go.

Sit back, grab your popcorn and soda, and enjoy!
